6 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE

Embark on a journey of a lifetime with Know Tanzania, climbing Africa’s highest peak via the historic Marangu Route on Mount Kilimanjaro. Known as the ‘Coca-Cola Route’ for its relative ease and the provision of hut accommodations, this path offers a unique blend of challenge and comfort, making it a popular choice for those seeking to stand atop the continent. Imagine your adventure beginning in the lush foothills of Kilimanjaro, where the air is thick with anticipation. Here, the Marangu Route Trekking Package invites you to not just climb a mountain but to experience the full spectrum of Kilimanjaro’s moods, from tropical rainforest to the lunar-like summit.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Hut Accommodations: Unlike other routes, Marangu provides huts at each campsite, offering shelter, bunk beds, and basic amenities, which add a layer of comfort to your high-altitude journey.
  • Scenic Diversity: Trek through five distinct ecological zones, each with its unique flora and fauna, from the rainforest’s dense canopies to the alpine desert’s stark beauty.
  • Gradual Ascent: The route’s moderate incline allows for a more gradual acclimatization process, though it’s still a significant challenge requiring physical preparation and mental fortitude.
  • Iconic Landmarks: Pass by the Mandara and Horombo Huts, and witness the awe-inspiring Kibo peak, culminating in the summit push to Uhuru Point.
  • Cultural Immigrant: The route offers encounters with local porters and guides, sharing stories of the mountain and its significance to the Chagga people.
  • Sunrise Summit: If timed right, your summit attempt will be rewarded with the unforgettable sight of sunrise over Africa from the top of Kilimanjaro.
  • Descent: The same path back down allows you to reflect on your journey, taking in views you might have missed on the way up, with the final stretch through the rainforest feeling like a return to civilization.
